In case you didn't know...

I'm moving to Vienna! More importantly, I'm starting a blog...

In January I was going on 3 months of living in Palo Alto and was already starting to feel the itch. My ideal job was ending in June (which, I guess makes it less than ideal, but that's beside the point) and I was feeling aimless. So I spent my time applying for things: internships, jobs, scholarships, trips to the moon... At the end of the process, I wound up with a job at Mayfield Bakery and a Fulbright to teach in Austria beginning in October. (Unfortunately, I am still space-suit less)
It's funny that the two went together. The barista gig gave me a sense of belonging in this weird place people call Palo Alto. I made friends not only with coworkers but also with customers, and started to feel at home and settled in a town where I haven't been able to shake the strange techie/start-up fog that's kept me from that cozy feeling for months. The Fulbright put a termination date on my time in Palo Alto, though, so I considered turning it down...
I'm beginning to ramble, which is exactly what I don't want this blog to be. So I'll just leave you with this: Paul Simon is a cure all for every ailment, including indifference. "Who am I to blow against the wind?" Although I was initially less than excited to get up and move to another place again, there's no way I could have turned down something like that. I got a Fulbright and I'm stoked. Follow me here on my adventures.
